MDDC NATS Presents: Your Voice Matters - Inside and Out; A World Voice Day Event
Sunday, April 16, 2023 is World Voice Day, an international celebration of the voice established in 2002 by the American Academy of Otolaryngology. This year’s theme is “Your Voice Matters.”
The MDDC chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing is proud to celebrate this event with a World Voice Day event, Your Voice Matters - Inside and Out.
Location: Roland Park Community Center, 5802 Roland Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland.
Schedule of events:
● 2:00 pm: Mindful Movement and Breathwork led by Dr. Madeline Miskie, including breath exercises, tension release techniques and movement sequences for releasing unnecessary physical tension, regulating the nervous system and building postural awareness. Participants will receive a free gift and a PDF of the class sequence for future reference. No prior yoga or movement experience necessary. This class is user-friendly and accessible for all bodies. Bring a yoga mat if you have one! This will either be outside or in the RPCC lobby, depending on the weather.
● 2:45 pm: Transition into the Fellowship Hall - grab a bite from Kommie Pig Food Truck (available from 2-4pm in the RPCC parking lot)
● 3:00 pm: Vocal Health Panel Discussion featuring:
○ Dr. Simon Best, Director, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Johns Hopkins

○ Claire Ligon, M.Ed., CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist, NCVS trained

● 4:15 pm: Annual spring meeting, MDDC Chapter (open meeting)
