Marguerite LaRoche
“I am a self-taught portrait and figurative artist, working primarily in pastel and charcoal. Along the way, I have studied with some modern masters: Daniel Greene, Albert Handell, and currently, I am under the painterly guidance of Alain Picard, who is influencing me toward a somewhat looser style in my work. Although portraits of people - at times, posing with their pets! - will always be my main passion, I also enjoy painting other subjects in pastel: landscapes, seascapes, and still life. ‘Abandoned’ themes, such as old houses, abandoned boats, and the like, hold a particular fascination for me! My art is not ‘deep’ or hard to understand - it is best felt with the heart. I have the simple hope that my pieces will be relatable to the viewer in some way, and strike a chord of familiarity - perhaps, gently stirring an emotion.
Tjhank you for viewing my work!”
All pastel originals are also available as a giclee; prices available upon request. NOTE: Unframed giclees are available by order, or any work, and are very affordably prcied at usually $45-$125. Price depends on size.
